The Oaks Historic District is the first area within the city of Beaumont recognized for its historic architecture. It is Beaumont's only historic district and is among the largest in Texas.
The northern portion of the District is located between McFaddin and Beech Streets and First and Eleventh Streets. The southern portion is located between Broadway and Smart and First, Fourth and Eleventh Streets.
This entire area is sometimes referred to as "Old Town."
The Oaks Historic District's goal is to protect and preserve the historic character of the structures within one of the city's most vibrant areas, to stabilize and improve property values, and to promote the use of landmarks to educate and entertain.
